Booking a Test
The Theory Test and Hazard Perception Test are combined for booking and administrative purposes and generally referred to as 'The Theory Test', so when you book you will be applying for, and booking both. The Practical Test is a single test and is conducted at a different location from the Theory Test.

There are many sites which will book your test for you and charge you a premium for doing this. We recommend the official DSA site and the links below will give you access to this.
When
should you book?
Always consult your instructor before booking a test; he will help you prepare for it. If you have a target date for passing the Practical Driving Test please discuss this with your instructor so he can advise if and how this can be met, taking into account current waiting times for both tests. Please note that you cannot book a practical test until you pass the Theory Test.
The easiest booking methods are to use the central telephone booking line 0300 200 1122 (then press 11)
or book online. The telephone booking line is open 08.00 to 18.00 weekdays. To book a Theory Test you will need a:
- Valid
- Valid debit or credit card for payment.

Can a test be changed or cancelled?
Changing or cancelling a test can be done without charge provided the DSA receive at least 3 clear days notice. Use the same phone number as given above or use the links below to do it online.
